09/08/11 - Costa Rica vs Colombia 2-3 Round Of 16 U-20 World Cup Mundial 2011 Colombia 3-2 Costa Rica: ¡sufriendo también vale! ¡Cómo nos hizo sufrir la Selección! Costa Rica hizo un partido notable, se tomó el medio, controló a Ortega e incluso remontó el gol inicial de Muriel, pero el coraje de la tricolor se impuso y en el minuto 93 la Sub-20 se metió en cuartos de final. Tendría que ser muy descarado el que no reconozca que Ronald González, técnico de Costa Rica, planeó a la perfección el partido frente a Colombia. Él, a diferencia de los estrategas que hasta ahora había enfrentado la Selección en el Mundial, tenía clarísimo que la zona de volantes de la tricolor tiene serios problemas de recuperación y respaldo, que Cabezas y Moreno no dan abasto para cubrir los espacios a los que sus compañeros de la ofensiva no llegan y que esto, precisamente, genera unos huecos tremendos en defensa. Por eso casi que lo tuvieron ganado. Por eso hasta el minuto 79 estaban eliminando a Colombia de su Mundial y dejando en ascuas a todo un país que se emocionó de sobremanera con esta Selección. Pero con lo que no contaban el DT 'tico' ni sus jugadores es que a esta Colombia le sobra hambre de gloria, que estos jugadores de verdad tienen el convencimiento de que están vistiendo la bandera del país y no una camiseta de marca adidas, y por eso al final, a pesar de todo, a pesar de 94 minutos de sufrimientos y de un partido en el que nunca fue más que su rival, Colombia se impuso por 3 a 2 y se metió a cuartos de final del Mundial Sub-20. A los 11 minutos del segundo tiempo el medio de Costa Rica dejó por primera vez libre en todo el partido a Ortega, y el armador sacó un pase de mago que dejó mano a mano a Muriel con Aarón Cruz. El 9 fue más que el 18 y Colombia empezó a ganar un partido que no veía cómo sacar adelante. El 1-1 llegó al 62 con un pase fabuloso en diagonal que encontró a John Ruiz solo (Calle no lo marcó) para fusilar a Bonilla. Colombia no se reponía de esto cuando Mynor Escoe mostró todos los problemas de recuperación del equipo: recibió una pelota en el medio y se cayó; Cabezas no se la quitó, así como no se la pudo quitar a lo largo de su carrera hacia el área, en donde además los centrales retrocedieron dejando que el 'tico' entrara tranquilo. Era el minuto 66 y perdíamos 2-1. La horrible noche del Himno era poco frente a lo que sucedía en Colombia a esa hora: la Sub-20 eliminada, la de mayores en crisis por la renuncia de Bolillo, el fantasma de la eliminación de la Copa América en unas condiciones muy similares... Todo estaba perdido, pero un centro de James, en el que el arquero Cruz salió muy, pero muy mal, encontró la cabeza salvadora de Pedro Franco, el capitán del equipo, que se tuvo la suficiente fe como para no pensar que el golero rival iba a cometer tal error. Quedaban 10 minutos de juego y todo podía pasar. Es más, pasó. Costa Rica metió miedo, Colombia mostró que lo suyo son las ganas y el coraje, y justo en el minuto 91, cuando sólo quedaban tres para cumplir con el tiempo añadido, Duván Zapata (que ingresó por Moreno al 66) fue derribado en el área. De nada valieron las protestas costarricenses ni la intención de Cruz y Campbell por intimidar a James Rodríguez, el cobrador designado. El 10 de la Selección, el hombre del Porto, el que ya ha sido campeón en Argentina y Portugal, mostró su personalidad y su experiencia con un buen cobro que puso el 3-2 definitivo. Sufriendo también vale. Colombia ya está en cuartos de final y sigue invicta en su Mundial. Eso sí, ojalá este derroche de adrenalina haya servido para que Lara por fin se diera cuenta de los errores tácticos de su equipo. Porque esta vez la suerte estuvo del lado colombiano, pero ya se sabe que esa caprichosa suele favorecer a los que estén preparados. Árbitro: Mark Clattenburg.
